Shoni Shin is directly translated as “Children’s needle” and was developed in Japan in the mid-1700s in the Osaka region and remains popular today. It is a specialized form of very light acupuncture for children that includes tapping, pressing and massage of the skin along the meridians. Since children are typically more sensitive and respond quicker to conventional acupuncture than adults, treatments are often shorter in duration and very gentle.
